The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has given the go-ahead for a final reopening that would last for 48 hours so that colleges and universities that haven’t finished verifying their students can do so.
Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications for the Fund, gave this information to reporters in Abuja yesterday.
According to Saturday Guardian, Oluwatuyi indicated that the site would be open from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, until 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14.
She noted that the delay was meant to make sure that all qualified pupils were properly recorded and confirmed by their schools as part of the current 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.
“Institutions should take full use of this last chance.
“Institutions that don’t finish the verification process in the time frame given will lose their right to take part in the current loan cycle.”
She remarked, “This is a situation that will unfortunately hurt their students, who are the ultimate beneficiaries of the loan scheme.”
She also said that the list of institutions that have failed to pay would be made public in the name of openness and responsibility.
Oluwatuyi said again that the Fund is dedicated to making sure that everyone has fair access to higher education by running the program in a way that is efficient, open, and welcoming to everyone.
