LG chairman arrested for alleged attempt to assassinate State Assembly Speaker
Two individuals, including the chairman of a local government, have been detained by police in connection with a purported plot to kill Aondona Hycenth Dajoh, the Speaker of the Benue House of Assembly.
According to Channels TV, the Force Headquarters said that its investigations revealed the LG boss had allegedly contacted a militia in an attempt to kill Dajoh.
“According to preliminary investigations, the Local Government Chairman allegedly hired a militia with the nefarious goal of assassinating Hon. Aondona Hycenth Dajoh, Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly. After obtaining reliable information about the intended assassination, the members of the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) moved quickly to take action, according to a statement released by the Force on Monday by spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi.
“At present, both suspects are detained by the police and are actively providing assistance.” with investigators in the ongoing inquiry. The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to upholding the safety and security of citizens and public officials.”
According to him, both suspects will face the full weight of the law as he reassured Nigerians of the police’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and prevention of crimes at all levels.
