You’ve proved critics wrong – Obasanjo tells Adeleke
Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, said yesterday that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke had silenced his detractors by proving himself to be a results-oriented governor despite his reputation as a talented dancer.
Adeleke boasted that he had accomplished more in his first 100 days as governor than many others did in their entire four-year terms. It was reported in The Guardian that they both spoke at the Love of Christ Generation Church C&S in Victoria Island, Lagos State, on their 16th Harvest Anniversary and Thanksgiving Service.
As stated in a statement released by his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, some of Adeleke’s accomplishments as Governor include: reforming the public service; attending to the welfare of workers; building and reconstructing over 40 kilometres of roads; implementing free medical surgeries with more than 40,000 beneficiaries.
“I am never ashamed to hold unto God through song and dance,” he declared. Many religious leaders have foreseen my becoming governor. The fulfilment of the prophecy brings me here today to give thanks to God.
My prayer life consists of returning to God to offer thanks and praise. Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ovation Magazine Publisher Dele Momodu, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Adewale Egbedun, and members of parliament were among the many dignitaries in attendance.
Obasanjo praised Adeleke for being a “dancing but hard-working governor” in his speech. The outgoing president lauded the governor as an example of a leader who does not hide his praise of God despite holding the highest office in the state, saying that the governor should be proud of his dancing and his work for God and the people.
They call you a dancer, Mr. Governor, but your moves are all in honour of the Lord. And I understand you devote a lot of effort to serving your people. The God you are praising will bless your state and its leaders. I am associated with you from now on , Obasanjo said.
