The Katsina NNPP fires its executives and deputy governor candidate.

Sani Liti, the state party chairman, Muttaqa Rabe-Darma, and other top officials have all been fired by the Katsina State branch of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

Nasiru Usman-Kankia, the NNPP’s director of media and publicity, revealed this when he briefed reporters on the party’s decision on Friday in Katsina. He claimed they were fired for anti-party activities, including Thursday’s endorsement of Dr. Dikko Radda for the All Progressives Congress.

“As you are already aware, on Thursday, March 9, a portion of the state executive leadership of the party called an unapproved meeting, whose decision nearly shook the party.

“An emergency exco meeting was called with 19 of the 29 members to go over the immediate and long-term causes of the unlawful meeting.

“It has become clear from the facts that the illegal meeting was called without the state executive committee’s permission.

“It was also found that even when state and local government exco members and ward chairmen received invitations for the illegal meeting, they were told that the meeting’s purpose was to discuss and disperse funds for the settlement of polling unit agents and ward coordinators.

“However, the NNPP state chairman Liti, the party’s running mate for governor, Rabe-Darma, and other top executives introduced other members present as decampees to the APC, and the APC gubernatorial candidate was ushered in.

Usman-Kankia described how the NNPP supporters’ chants of “no, no, no” and other slogans caused the entire arena to quickly become chaotic.

He claims that Dr. Radda, the APC candidate, immediately asserted that the topic of his conversations with the NNPP members was an alliance rather than a defection.

The NNPP spokesperson recalled that the organization had issued a warning to its candidates, officials, and members on March 5 regarding the dangers of joining forces with other political parties.

As a result, party officers, members, and candidates at all levels are not permitted to speak with, bargain with, or join forces with any political party in order to influence the outcome of the upcoming governorship and legislative elections.

“Sanctions in accordance with the NNPP Constitution, ranging from suspension to expulsion, will be applied to anyone who supports a candidate from another political party.

“Our emergency meeting deliberated and decided, subject to the party’s national executive committee’s approval, to expel the officials and participants in the illegal forum.

Sani Liti, the state chairman, Umar Jibril, the state secretary, Mustapha Basheer, the youth leader, Dauda Kurfi, the Funtua Zonal Chairman, Abdulhadi Mai-Dawa, the Daura Zonal Chairman, Dr. Sale Mashi, Rabe-Darma, the deputy governorship candidate, and Sen. Audu Yandoma are among them, according to Usman-Kankia.
