Pastor on 40-day fast dies
Mozambican Pastor, who wanted to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, has died after he attempted to fast for 40 days and 40 nights.
The cleric, Francisco Barajah, was the founder of the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church in Mozambique.
After 25 days, Barajah was said to have lost weight to the point where he could not stand up.
The 39-year-old was rushed to the hospital in the city of Beira where he was diagnosed with acute anemia and failure of his digestive organs.
But efforts to rehydrate Barajah with serums alongside the introduction of liquid foods were unfortunately too late as he died.
Members of the Santa Trindade Church said it was common for the Pastor and his followers to fast, but not for that length of time.
The pastor’s brother, Marques Manuel Barajah, however, challenged the medical diagnosis of his death.
He argued his “brother suffered from low blood pressure.”
