Police claims ‘Delta doctor killed by cultists, not patient’s relatives’

The Delta State Police Command has refuted claims that one Dr. Uyi Iluobe was killed by relatives of a patient, at his hospital in Oghara.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Iluobe was murdered on December 31, 2022, with the Nigerian Medical Association claiming that the doctor was killed by the relatives of a late patient.

But in a statement on Tuesday, the police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Bright Edafe, noted that the act was carried out by suspected cultists.

On his Twitter page, Edafe revealed that the NMA visted the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Alli, concerning Iluobe’s mother.

He went on to reveal that the suspected cultists came into the hospital pretending to be patients and shot the doctor while he was attending to them.

Edafe, therefore, refuted the claims that the doctor was killed by a dead patient’s relative.

The police spokesman said, “The Nigerian Medical Association visits CP Delta over the murder of Dr Uyi Iluobe by suspected cultists who came into the hospital in Oghara pretending to be patients and shot him while he was attending to them.

She was not killed by the family of any dead patient as being alleged, please.”
