Lagos pays N538m as insurance death benefits

Lagos State, in conjunction with LASACO Assurance and Consortium of Underwriters/Brokers, has paid N538.9 million as insurance death benefits of 102 civil servants.

 

Cheques were presented to 250 beneficiaries.

 

Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said at the cheque presentation yesterday, said payment of Insurance Death Benefits cheques to relatives of deceased members of staff shows that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration prioritises worker’s welfare.

 

Muri-Okunola, represented by Permanent Secretary (Public Service Office), Mrs. Olasunkanmi Oyegbola, added: “We are paying this insurance death benefits to relatives of deceased staff to serve as a succour, help keep the children in school and so they can have a roof over their heads.”

 

Commissioner for Finance Rabiu Olowo, said the objective is to provide relief for immediate families of the deceased.

 

Managing Director of LASACO Assurance, Rasak Abiodun, represented by General Manager, Dimeji Olona, hailed Lagos as the only state taking care of its employees by paying insurance benefits to deceased’s family.

 

He noted that the gesture shows the government as concerned about worker’s welfare.

 

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Caroline Ajisafe thanked the government for the gesture and promised to use the money judiciously.
