Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested one suspect in connection to the dastardly murder of a businessman, Chief Emmanuel Bini, by gunmen suspected to be assassins, who invaded his shop located at the popular Five-Junction in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area last Saturday.
Reports of the Chief’s death surfaced on Monday morning after his lifeless body was reportedly discovered somewhere in Ebrumede, a community in Uvwie LGA.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, told journalists on Friday that “for now, one suspect” has been arrested in connection with the gory incident.
Chief Bini’s Chemist and PoS shop, remained under lock and key when our correspondent visited the locality on Friday.
It was gathered that virtually all the shops close to that of the deceased which were shut down in his honour throughout Tuesday and Wednesday resumed business only on Thursday morning.
Even though residents in the area were unwilling to make comments about the incident, the shocking demise of Chief Bini has visibly caused devastation to most of the traders at Five-Junction in Agbarho.
One of the traders, Aloysius Odama described Chief Bini as “a very good benefactor who always caters for the wellbeing of others in the neighbourhood.”
Another trader, Madam Roseline Ananaba, lamented the death and called on security operatives to dig deep into the roots of the circumstances.
Recall that a young man said to be Chief Bini’s sales attendant was also reportedly shot dead in the attack on the Chemist and PoS shop when the hoodlums struck on Saturday.
It was gathered that while the sales boy was shot dead at the shop, the hoodlums whisked away the Chief in a vehicle and his remains were eventually discovered later on Monday morning in the Ebrumede community.
Sources, however, said that the other person shot dead was a mentally unstable guy hanging close to the drug store when the assailants struck.
He reportedly tried asking where the invaders were taking the Chief to in their vehicle when they opened fire on his legs. He died at the hospital.
