Terrorists attack in Niger, five dead hunters, travellers abducted

Along Garin Gabas in Rafi local government area of Niger State an unspecified number of travellers headed to Kontagora have been abducted while five security hunters were killed by terrorists

 

It was learnt by The Nation that the terrorists attacked in the eveining from the hours of 4pm to 5pm. They were said to have come in over 40 motorcycles to take over the road and stopped the motorists.

 

About five vehicles had their passengers abducted. Sources in the area said that the number of passengers abducted are unknown.

 

The sources stated that the hunters responded to distress calls but were overpowered by the terrorists as five others were injured during the attack.

 

Efforts to get a security report have not been successful. Niger Police spokesman DSP Abiodun Wasiu is out of town for the Senior Police Officers Conference and Retreat in Owerri but he promised to get back to the reporter once he get information about the attack.
