Lack of funds make Nigeria withdraw from AFCON Beach soccer

The Nigeria’s Super Eagles withdrew from the 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations amd as such will not be taking part at the competition. Reason being of lack of funds.

 

 

The Super Sand Eagles had been drawn in Group A alongside Mozambique, Malawi and Morocco. Following Nigeria’s withdrawal, seven countries will now slug it out in the competition to be hosted by Mozambique.

 

Defending champions Senegal, Uganda Madagascar and Egypt are the four teams in Group B.

 

The competition is slated to kick-off on October 21 at the Vilankulos Arena with the final billed for October 28.

 

The tournament also serves as a route to the world cup with teams who progress to the knock-out round to represent Africa at the 2023 Beach Soccer World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
