Angry mob burns two alive for raping 10-year-old girl to death

Two suspected ritualists who allegedly raped a 10-year old girl to death and remove her vital organs in Ede-Oballa, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State were burnt to death by angry mob on Monday.

According to an eyewitness account Ede-Oballa community had been in pain and sorrow since last week Monday the incident happened.

He said the lifeless body of a 10-year old girl from the community was found in a nearby bush with some of her vital organs like breast and vagina removed.

“The community members have been unhappy that ritualists have entered into the community.

“Only ritualists will rape a girl to death and remove her vital organs to go use it for their evil act,” he said.

“On Monday when residents heard that the perpetrators of that evil act had been arrested by Neighbourhood Watch everybody rushed to Ede-Oballa Neighborhood watch office.

“The crowd over powered the local security men and grabbed the two ritualists that killed the girl and set them on fire and watch them burn to death.

“It’s the intention of Neighbourhood people to take the ritualists to police station but they are overpowered by the mob,” he said.

Reacting to the development, Val Omeje, President General of Ede-Oballa community, and Hyginus Ogbu, councilor representing the area confirmed the killing of the suspected ritualists by mob who overpowered local security.

They said residents were angry over the raping to death of innocent 10-year girl and removing of her vital body organs by the ritualists who were members of the community.

When contacted, Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) of Enugu State, said: “l have seen your text message I would get back to you.” (Daily Independent)
