Imo APC: Disregard letter reinstating Okorocha’s ally, Nwafor

Imo State’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged party members to ignore a fictitious letter that appeared online purporting to reinstate Dan Nwafor, a member of the political family of Senator Rochas Okorocha, as the state party chairman.

This was stated by the state’s ruling APC in a statement that was signed by Cajethan Duke.

Dan Nwafor and his allies will stay where they are in the Imo APC’s history, the party added.

Such irksome falsehood and misleading publication “did not emanate from the national Secretariat of our party,” the party claimed.

Remember how Sen. Lyiola Omisore’s letter, dated June 21, 2022, reinstating Okorocha ally Dan Nwafor under the title “Reinstatement of The Daniel Nwafor Led Executive,” caused controversy in the State?

The letter’s opening line states: “I write to convey the Party leadership’s decision to abide by the Supreme Court ruling in the case of APC v. Evan Enwerem and 2 Others (SC/CV/884/2020), which called for the reinstatement of Daniel Nwafor-led Executives of the Party in Imo State.

By virtue of this development, you are required to assume control of the Party Secretariat and serve as the State’s Party Chairman until the end of your term on July 31, 2022.

The letter was also copied to the Inspector General of Police, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Imo State, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, and the Commissioner of Police of Imo State.

As a response, the APC spokesman in Imo State stated, “The said letter is not only fake and misleading, but it is also a dramatised case of forgery masterminded by an unintelligent desperado.

It is crucial to note that Dan Nwafor and his fellow travellers receive no recognition or legitimacy from the Supreme Court’s majority decision in the case APC vs. Evans Enwerem & 2 Others SC/CV/884/2020, which was handed down on Friday, May 27, 2022. The verdict is still unequivocal and clear.

“The national leadership of the party, in particular the NWC, has never met to issue such a directive and could not have written a letter of this importance through an unnamed proxy, if it were not for the poorly thought out ‘oluwale’ products that the Senator Rochas Okorocha political family is known for.

“Every authorised and official information and communication is available through an official channel at our party.”
