Army breaks silence on gallant officer who committed suicide in Kaduna

The authorities of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday broke their silence over the controversial death of Major Udiandeye Jeremiah Udiadenye, saying the army did not court marshal  the officer before death.

The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu stresses in a press statement titled: ‘Late Major  Uj Udiandeye Had An Unblemished Career, Was Never Court Martialed Before His Demise’, that  linking Udiadenye’s death to suicide “because he was being interrogated or investigated by a military court martial in 1 Division, Kaduna”, was “an obnoxious insinuation making the rounds on social media.

Onyema further stressed that, “the late senior officer had an unblemished career in the military and never needed to face any disciplinary process”. He said the army feels deeply concerned about his demise.

He however stated that moves to unravel the cause of incident are underway. He said, “An appropriate Board of Inquiry has been instituted to ascertain what led to the tragic incident and its report will guide the NA on subsequent actions and measures to take to forestall a recurrence.

He also urged the public to disregard the ignorant piece making the rounds please.
