Hoodlums vandalise Amotekun commandant’s residence, two feared killed
Two suspected cultists have been reportedly shot dead when rival hoodlums clashed in Osogbo along Balogun Agoro area via Asoje on Tuesday.
It was gathered that one group of hoodlums led by Lekan Emir attempted to overrun another group at Asoje area to claim the base but the latter resisted the attack and this led to the death of two.
A resident, who pleaded anonymity, said: “Two groups of hoodlums clashed and Amotekun corps was alerted to restore peace but unfortunately, one of them erroneously fired a shot which killed two people and one person was severely injured.”
It was learnt the incident made hoodlums take the victims to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo before police operatives arrived to take the corpse away.
The hoodlums later stormed Amotekun’s office and destroy property.
When contacted, the Field Commandant of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu denied this men shot anybody at the scene of the incident.
He confirmed that one of the wanted cultists was arrested by his corps.
“They (hoodlums) have been fighting themselves since Saturday, they have been killing themselves. Police have been looking for some of them and we arrest one of them at 10:15 AM on Tuesday around Balogun Agoro area which was handed over to the police. We did not shoot anybody.
“One Lekan led hoodlums numbering about 30 to my house to vandalise property. They used axes on my gates, shattered window glasses and destroyed some vehicles,” he said. (Courtesy, excluding headline, The Nation)
