Three days to the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, some supporters of former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday besieged the party’s headquarters, demanding his adoption as the consensus candidate.

Despite speculations surrounding his presidential aspiration, Jonathan has not formally declared for president and his name didn’t appear in the official list of those contesting the APC ticket.

The APC screening committee on Friday denied screening the former President.

Chairman of the screening committee, John Odigie-Oyegun, confirmed this when he submitted his report to the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, at an ongoing meeting of the National Working Committee.

Odigie-Oyegun told journalists that contrary to news making the rounds, the former president was not at Transcorp Hilton for the exercise.

Oyegun’s clarification came as the party announced that it has pruned down the list of 23 presidential aspirants to 13 after the screening exercise. (Daily Trust/The PUNCH)
