Kaduna bomb explosion, three people injured

A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which exploded Friday night in Kaduna has critically injured a local P.O.S operator and two other residents.

The incident happened on Friday around 9:43 p.m. at Yazufa Junction Danmani, a suburb of Rigasa in Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

The IED was found in sacks close to the motorcycle belonging to the P.O.S operator at his shop.

Full details of how the explosion occurred remain sketchy but residents reported hearing laud sound.

A member of the State Vigilance Services, KADVS, who pleaded for anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to journalists, said: “The injured operator was rushed to 44 Reference Hospital for treatment.”

“The remaining two other residents injured by the explosion their injuries were mild and were treated and allow to go home.”

One of the community leaders identified as Malam Shehu said the operator was unconscious when people closed by rushed him to the hospital.

“Nobody could tell you what actually happened but there was an explosion closed to the victim’s P.O.S shop. He was critically injured before taken to hospital.

“Anti-bomb squad from the state Police command arrived and detonated the second explosive concealed in a second sack at the scene the two other injured persons were treated for their mild injuries,” said a resident, Saminu Bala.

Police spokesperson ASP Mohammed Jalige didn’t respond to calls and a text message sent to his phone as at the time of filing this report.
