Police promise action

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Yabatech chapter, has raised concerns over the missing of a lecturer in the institution, Adeyinka Ahmed Olamilekan.
Before his disappearance on February 5, 2022, Olamilekan,  a lecturer of Agricultural Technology at  Epe Campus,  was a resident of Odo-Iragunshi in Epe.
Chairman, ASUP, Yabatech chapter, Comrade Ojo Monday,  told The Guardian that all efforts to contact the lecturer have proved abortive.
According to him, the institution was not aware of any threat to his life. We learnt that he was talking to a lady along the road on the morning of Saturday, February 5, 2022.
He stressed that one of our staff, Mr. Mafimidiwo, who was also of Agricultural Technology, drove by and saw him with a lady, then in the evening of that Saturday,  he didn’t return home, and the next day (Sunday 6, 2022), his neighbours told his mother that he didn’t return home on Saturday, and his mother came to the school to report.
Monday, who lectures in the Department of Social Sciences said: “I invited Mafimidiwo, who saw him with the lady and he told me that he could not recognise the lady.

“ I called the Head of Department (HOD) to inform him what happened and he went to Epe Police Station to report. On Monday, February 15, 2022, we invited the HOD and Mafimidiwo to Yaba campus, and they told us that they got another information that Olamilekan was seen on Monday, February 7, 2022, by a student identified as Joshua, under the Ajah bridge.
“The student said Olamilekan was in a commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) and that he couldn’t alight to greet him.   His sister reported the case to the police on that same Monday and they were told to visit the mortuary, but they didn’t write any statement in the station. We also approached the Department of State Services (DSS) office in Epe.
“Anyone that has information about Olamilekan whereabouts should kindly contact Rosulu Olamiji, HOD Department of Agriculture Technology Yabatech Epe Campus on 08026302972, ASUP General Secretary Comrade Akingbade Adekunle on 08036321288 or visit ASUP Secretariat Yabatech chapter office besides Auto workshop, Yabatech Lagos. We shall be grateful for all possible assistance in getting to the root of the matter.”

Meanwhile, the union chairman reported the case to the Odo Noforija Police division yesterday. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Gregory Ikpekhia told The Guardian: that they learnt of the case yesterday but promised to work on it. (The Guardian)
