Senator Dickson visits mother’s grave, pays homage to maternal relations

The former Bayelsa State Governor and serving Senator, Henry Seriake Dickson, last Wednesday paid Christmas homage state to his maternal relations on the Forcados River Bank in Delta State.

He also visited the graveside of his late mother, Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson, who died on August 18, 2018, aged 71 years.

Senator Dickson has had a busy schedule spending his Christmas Holidays in his hometown of Toru Orua.

Since his return, the Senator has been engaged in receiving business partners, political associates, relatives and friends; as well as attending and hosting sporting competitions which include wrestling and football competitions, sponsored by his foundation, the Henry Seriake Dickson (HSD).

The HSD Foundation sponsored the recently concluded community-based, grassroots football competition, Christened the Ofurumapepe Cup which saw 100 teams and 1000 young boys participting.

In the final match played on December 28, Odoni FC of Sagbama LGA won the 2021 edition of the Ofurumapepe Cup by a lone goal scored by Benatare Bob.

They winners smiled home with N2,000,000, courtesy of the HSD Foundation; while Bayelsa State government also donated additional N500,000. The team that placed Second went home with N1,300,000, made of N800,000 from HSD Foundation and N500,000 from Bayelsa State Government.

The Foundation also recently unveiled the Nanaye Dickson Wrestling Tournament in Abuja where Two Ijaw Wrestling icons were recognized and honoured.

On Thursday, December 30, Seriake flagged off the Nanaye Dickson Wrestling Tournament in Toru Orua. The Organisers said the tournament was designed specifically to discover hidden talents in Bayelsa communities.

According to them only wrestlers who have not participated in any state, national or international competitions were eligible to participate in the wrestling competition.
