The family of the lady allegedly electrocuted to death in an Abuja night club has reacted to reports of the incident in the media.

In a statement issued on their behalf by Lamar Oleghe, the Oleghe family stated thus:

“On Sunday 14th of November, the Oleghe family lost their beloved daughter and sister.

“Due to the erroneous and callous posts being carried on certain blogs and website, it has become imperative that the public is abreast with the following:

“1. The family is yet to reach a decision regarding what approach to take as they are still grieving the loss of the deceased.

“2. It is beyond callous and reprehensible to upload the pictures and name of the deceased without the consent of her family members. This is highly unacceptable.

“3. The continuous circulation of the watered down and abridged versions of the events that led to the deceased demise and aftermath of her tragic death failed to capture the magnitude and essence of this truly unfortunate debacle.

“With that being said, the bereaved family thanks the public for it’s unequivocal support and in the same vein, would like the public to respect privacy during these trying times.

“Considering the magnitude of our unbearable loss and the weight of the issue. We are deliberating on the necessary steps and actions to take with the memory of our beloved daughter and sister in mind, the appropriate authorities are on top of the matter and so are we. When a resolution is reached, we will communicate our decision to the public.

“Once again, respect the privacy of the family and let us mourn and grieve the loss of our beloved in peace. Thank you.”

Recall that, a lady was reportedly electrocuted in the Hustle and Bustle club in the Aminu Kano Crescent area of Wuse, Abuja, a club allegedly co-owned by popular socialite, Obi Cubana.

It was gathered that the victim, a shoe seller, who went to the club to meet her high class clients on Saturday night was allegedly electrocuted by a piece of metal on the floor of the clubhouse.

Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCT Police Command, DSP Josephine Adeh, stated that an investigation is ongoing and police would conduct an autopsy on the corpse.

Adeh said, “The case was reported to the police. This is a case of sudden and unnatural death, which investigation is going on. We are going to carry out an autopsy to determine the cause of the death. I can not tell you the cause of the death now until the investigation and autopsy are completed.”

Meanwhile, the management of the club has since shut down its operations after the incident.

“We’re closed till further notice. This is due to the loss of our esteemed client. We are deeply saddened by this situation and need to heal from it. Our prayers are with the families of the lost soul, may her soul rest in peace. We sympathise with the family on this unbearable loss,” a statement on the club’s Instagram page stated.
