Army raids Enugu community, arrest two IPOB/ESN Leaders
The Nigerian Army has confirmed two alleged ring leaders of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) were arrested during a raid by a joint security team in a community in Enugu State.
Army spokesman, Onyema Nwachukwu, who confirmed the raid to journalists, disclosed that troops of a Joint team of security operatives carried out the raid on a hideout alleged to belong to the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN).
Nwachukwu said the raid was a night operation but local sources said the raid on the hideout located in Mgbowo, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State took place in the early hours of Monday, November 1, 2021.
“During the night operation, two ring leaders of IPOB/ ESN were arrested. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation with a security agency,” Nwachukwu added
The Army spokesman also dismissed claims of indiscriminate shooting during the raid, saying “there was no incident of indiscriminate firing during the operation.”
