Imo workers rejoice as Uzodinma approves N30, 000 minimum wage
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has approved the payment of N30,000 as minimum wage to workers in the state.In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Cosmas Iwu, the governor urged the workers to bear with him on the consequential adjustment to the new wage, in view of the prevailing economic problems.
“Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has approved the payment of N30,000 minimum wage to Imo workers.
“The governor is, however, appealing to Imo workers to allow him a little time to effect the necessary consequential differences.
“His Excellency appreciates Imo workers for their unalloyed support to his administration and promises to partner with labour for a better Imo,” the statement read in part.
Meanwhile, the governor has approved the appointment of Mr. Emeka Agbo as Deputy Chief of Staff and Mr. Chinasa Nwaneri as Special Adviser (Special Duties).
Today, the new aides and 22 commissioners and will be sworn in at Ahiajoku International Centre, New Owerri, by 9a.m.A statement by the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser, Oguwike Nwachuku, at the weekend, added: “Both appointees (Agbo and Nwaneri) have since assumed office and would be formally inaugurated on Monday, March 23 by the governor.”
The SSG added: “All commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, who should come with their spouses, are expected to be seated by 8.30a.m. before the arrival of the governor.” (The Guardian)
