Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has said the state government has concluded the discussion with the Chief of Army Staff over the possession of a piece of land belonging to the Nigerian Army near Oregbeni Market in Benin City.

Obaseki disclosed this when the new Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Edo State Command, Rabi Garba, visited him at the Government House, Benin City.

He said the state government would soon begin physical retrieval of the land soon.

He said his administration would settle the land issue on time to enable the MIS to perform its official function optimally.

Meanwhile, Obaseki has extolled the late Madam Ayo Edna Awo-Osagie, for her role in his reelection during the September 19, 2020 governorship election.

Obaseki paid the tribute during a condolence visit to Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Henry Okhuarobo.

The governor was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie, Chief of Staff (CoS) to the Governor, Osaigbovo Iyoha and other government officials.

“We are here to commiserate with our brother who is also the majority leader of EDHA over the death of his mother, who was a mother to all of us. She carried our struggle as if it was her personal struggle.

“She was there for us in prayers and was very supportive. Mama was my great supporter and that is why we are here to sympathise and solidarise with you.”

Continuing, he said the deceased lived a fulfilled and accomplished life and as such rather than grieve, “we should celebrate her life, looking at her influence on her children, the discipline and values she impacted are worth celebrating.”

Responding on behalf of the family, Okhuarobo appreciated Obaseki and his entourage for the visit, adding: “Mama died meeting all her heart desires.”
