About 2,000 residents from villages in the western section of the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State have left their homes because they think there will be a revenge assault.
According to Daily Trust, one of the villagers named Muhammad Murtala stated they had to leave their home villages and fled for safety.
“All of the security personnel sent to our villages left their important positions two days after they beat the bandits.”
“We’re scared that the bandits will come back now.”
People from Kunchin Kalgo and other nearby villages were observed putting their things in their cars and going to the Local Government Headquarters.
Hon. Garba Panchase, the Tsafe local government chairman, said that the residents ran away to the Local Government Headquarters.
Hon. Garba Panchase reported that the Civilian JTF left the area to get ready for deployment and to swap with others who had moved there. However, regular security with three heavy security machines was still there.
He said, “The people left their communities because of rumors spread by people who don’t want the Government to do well.”
The villagers said that JTF and other regular security troops left the area because bandits were getting ready to attack again.
