The leaders of the Movement For Credible Elections have set dates for zonal and national town hall meetings in Nigeria to oppose what they say is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s plot to impose “one man rule” on the country.
The leaders of the opposition said this in a statement released today following a press conference in Lagos that was sent to The TNT news online.
Dr. Usman Bugaje, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, Amb Nkoyo Toyo, Femi Falana SAN, Prof. Pat Utomi, and 27 other people issued a statement saying that the demonstration will take place from Thursday, April 9, to Monday, April 27, 2026.
According to MCE, “The MCE sees the statement from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday withdrawing recognition of the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, Chairman and Secretary respectively, as a malicious attempt to decapitate the ADC and the opposition in general, in ensuring that none of the leading Presidential Aspirants in Nigeria gets on the ballot of the 2027 elections.”
“We don’t agree with INEC’s electoral banditry against the opposition and Nigeria’s multi-party democracy!”
“We don’t like how the Tinubu Administration is messing with INEC and the courts.” We ask all good Nigerians to fight against this plan to make Nigeria a one-man rule!
“We want the incumbent INEC Chairman and his team to go right away because they have become the Tinubu Administration’s errand boys.
The organization declared, “We demand a complete Electoral Reform that will ensure free, fair, and credible elections in 2027!”
So, MCE claimed it is getting Nigerians ready for the rally, since it is the people’s leader.
“However, as the leader of the Nigerian people’s desire for fair elections in 2027, the MCE will be starting a nationwide campaign to get people to work together to fight against the escalating tyranny and election fraud against the Nigerian people. In order to do this, the MCE will hold Zonal and National Town Hall Rallies as follows:
1. North East Zone: Gombe on Thursday, April 9, 2026
2. North West: In Sokoto or Kano on Monday, April 13, 2026
3. North Central: In Jos on Wednesday, April 15, 2026
4. South South: In Calabar or Warri on Friday, April 17, 2026
5. South East: Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Enugu or Anambra
6. South West: Thursday, April 24, 2026, in either Ibadan or Lagos
7. National—Abuja: Monday, April 27, 2026.

INEC’s Attack on Opposition Parties: An Attack on Nigeria’s Democracy
APC and INEC Alliance Threatens 2027 Elections
MCE is about to start holding rallies and marches all around the country against one-man rule.
The Movement for Credible Elections (MCE) is very worried about the new alliance between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a part of the Nigerian judiciary, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This is an unethical combination that will keep legitimate presidential candidates and political parties off the ballot in the upcoming 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
In this context, the MCE sees the statement from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday that it would no longer recognize the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, as a malicious attempt to kill off the ADC and the opposition in general, so that none of the leading presidential candidates in Nigeria can run in the 2027 elections.
For example, INEC said that it was following an Order of the Court of Appeal that said the status quo in the ADC should stay the same. Even though the NEC led by David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola is still in charge of the ADC, INEC did not hesitate to attack the ADC with banditry. This means that the ADC will no longer accept any communications from the Party, especially at this important time when they are getting ready for the 2027 elections. INEC also said that it would no longer monitor the ADC congresses that are set to start on April 7. So, what does this decision mean for all the candidates from one of Nigeria’s biggest opposition parties?
Once more, we have seen how INEC, along with some members of the Judiciary and agents of the Tinubu Government, weakened the Labour Party (LP) and then destroyed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with Nyeson Wike, a current minister in the Tinubu regime, as the leader of the fake spoilers game to impose a One Man Rule agenda on Nigeria.
The MCE is therefore brave enough to warn Nigerians once more that this senseless attack by INEC and the APC is meant to keep other political parties out of the 2027 General Elections! INEC is not at all independent as it is now. There are just a group of Electoral Bandits whose only job is to make Bola Ahmed Tinubu the only candidate for president in 2027.
As the leader of the Nigerian people’s desire for fair elections in 2027, the MCE will be initiating a statewide campaign to get people to work together to fight the rising tyranny and electoral plot against the Nigerian people. To that goal, the MCE will hold Zonal and National Town Hall Rallies as follows:
1. North East Zone: Gombe, Thursday, April 9, 2026
2. North West: Monday, April 13, 2026, in Sokoto or Kano
3. North Central: Jos on Wednesday, April 15, 2026
4. South South: In Calabar or Warri on Friday, April 17, 2026
5. South East: Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Enugu or Anambra
6. South West: Thursday, April 24, 2026, at Ibadan or Lagos
7. National—Abuja: Monday, April 27, 2026
We don’t agree with INEC’s Electoral Banditry against the opposition and multi-party democracy in Nigeria!
We don’t like how the Tinubu Administration has been messing with INEC and the courts. We ask all good Nigerians to fight against this plan to make Nigeria a one-man rule!
We want the incumbent INEC Chairman and his team to quit right away since they are now working for the Tinubu Administration.
We want a full Electoral Reform that will make sure that the 2027 elections are free, fair, and trustworthy!
