The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has reported that they were able to put out two distinct fires that broke out overnight in various regions of the state. Margaret Adeseye, the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said in a statement that the initial incident was reported at 22:46 hours on Saturday at Tower Aluminum Village, which is on the Abeokuta Expressway in Dopemu, Agege.
Firefighters from the Ikeja and Agege stations quickly put out the fire, which affected several workplaces and stores of different sizes. The buildings, which were on a plot of land of about 2,592 square meters inside a property of about four acres, were badly damaged in the parts that were affected and their contents.
Margaret Adeseye went on to say that the second event happened on Sunday morning at around 03:15 at a three-story commercial building on Oyabiyi Street, across from the NLC Office in Tejuosho, Yaba. The structure, which had shops and stores that stored textile products, caught fire.
Firefighters from the Somolu, Ilupeju, and Sari Iganmu Fire Stations quickly arrived at the scene and put out the fire, stopping it from spreading to nearby buildings.
In all cases, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service acted quickly and professionally, making sure that the fires were put out without getting worse or causing any injuries.
Adeseye said again how important it is to take fire safety procedures and encouraged people to stay alert, especially in business locations where flammable products are kept. She went on to say that more research is being done to find out what caused the fires. On April 4, 2026, Margaret Adeseye, who was in charge of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, signed the declaration.
