A man in Sokoto is in the hospital after his wife allegedly poured boiling oil on his private regions because she thought he was cheating on her.
Bello Abubakar, who lives in the Yar Gabas district of Sokoto, said the event happened right after he got home after morning prayers.
Abubakar disputed claims that he was with another woman while telling the story, saying that the claim had no validity. He said that his wife had been dealing with problems that were not obvious in the past.
He said that things changed quickly after he came home from the mosque and saw his wife in trouble.
“I went to the mosque to pray Subhi and then came home in the morning.” “When I got there, I saw her crying, but she wouldn’t tell me what was wrong,” he added.
Abubakar said that he was getting ready to leave for work when his wife urged him to wait. He said he didn’t think anything was wrong when she came up to him with a cup that he assumed had a harmless substance in it.
“Suddenly, I felt intense heat on my private part and started screaming. He said, “I had already gotten burns by the time I realized what had happened.”
He is getting care at a specialized hospital in Sokoto right now, and he says his health is getting better.
Tasiu Abubakar, a relative of the victim, revealed that the pair had lived together happily until the event. He did, however, hint to ongoing family problems by saying that the woman’s mother had been against the marriage at first.
He further said that both families have chosen to make up and are not taking legal action right now.
We tried to get in touch with the wife or her family to get their thoughts, but we were unable.
Ahmad Rufai, the Sokoto State Police Command’s spokesperson, said that the subject will be looked into when we called, but as of the time of this report, there has been no official update.
The incident has brought to light the risks of unresolved family problems and the need for quick action when tensions rise in a home.
