The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to do something about the recent incident in Plateau State. They want the government to find and punish those responsible for the deaths.
Channels TV said that CAN President Daniel Okoh called the attack “not just tragic” but also “unacceptable.”
“Nigerians are sick of being sad. People in Nigeria are sick of statements. “The cleric added in a message released late yesterday that “Nigerians want to see action.”
“Those who did this horrible thing must be caught, apprehended, and brought to justice quickly and without hesitation. Anything less will just make people feel like life in our country is no longer safe.
The incident on Sunday in Angwan Rukuba, which is in the Jos North Local Government Area, killed 28 people and hurt many more.
As expected, the event has made Nigerians very furious and caused protests by people in the vicinity.
The attack “strikes at the very heart of public trust” and must be fully looked into, according to CAN.
The Christian group said, “Our security institutions must not only respond; they must stay ahead of these threats.” They also praised the work of the Plateau State government.
“But let it be clear: temporary measures are not enough.” Okoh remarked, “The people of Plateau, and all Nigerians, deserve lasting security, not just reassurance from time to time.”
CAN encouraged Nigerians to stay calm and watchful, but they also said that the country owes “the dead justice.”
“We owe it to the living to defend them. And we owe it to the future to make sure that no community wakes up to gunshots on a holy day.
28 people are dead.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang states that 28 persons died in the attack, on the other hand.
“This sad event took the lives of 28 innocent people and hurt many more. The governor said in a state-wide broadcast, “I feel deeply the weight of the pain inflicted on our people.”
But he promised that Plateau State will not “give in to fear or intimidation.”
The governor promised, “We will come out stronger, united, and firm in our faith and commitment to peace.”
“We must use all of our resources to protect our people, lives, and property, as well as the integrity of our state’s borders.” Plateau will stay strong and peaceful.
Mutfwang went to the impacted area and saw the people who were hurt on Monday, even though the state administration had put a curfew in place there.
People from all over the country and the world have spoken out against what happened on Sunday. It is the most recent attack in the North-Central State and adds to Nigeria’s rising security worries.
