Favour Ezani, a priest from Anambra, has been arrested for reportedly raping and getting a 16-year-old girl, Precious Okafor, pregnant at his home in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state.
The Nation says that the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), a state government security group, caught the suspect, who was the general overseer of a Pentecostal church.
Reports say that in a video that is going around online, the cleric admitted to the deed and said that he gave the woman a mixture of bitter leaf and other herbs to end the pregnancy in order to keep it from becoming public.
It was also stated that he asked security personnel to be lenient and promised to pay for the victim’s medical bills.
Karen James, the SASA spokesperson, told reporters at the group’s headquarters in Onitsha that a security officer from Igboukwu, a nearby town, had reported the incidence.
She said that the victim’s aunt had given her to the priest for what was called a “special deliverance session” before the crime happened.
She said that the aunt grew suspicious when she found out the girl was pregnant, and when she asked the victim about it, she named the cleric as the one who was responsible. The police are holding the suspect right now.
The adolescent revealed that the assault started in November 2025, not long after she got to the cleric’s house for the exercise her aunt had set up.
She said that the clergyman attacked her many times and told her not to tell anyone.
The victim also said that she was given herbal medicines to end the pregnancy, which has caused her health problems that won’t go away.
She asked the Anambra State Government, non-governmental organizations, and kind people for help getting the right medical care.
