Hafsat Yusuf, the woman who gave birth to five babies at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano yesterday, has died.
Today morning, her husband, Salisu Nafiu, told our reporter that she died at the hospital at 1:00 a.m., according to Daily Trust.
He did say, though, that all five babies—three boys and two girls—are alive and getting medical attention at the facility.
Nafiu didn’t say anything else about what happened before her death.
Earlier reports said that Hafsat had the quintuplets by C-section at around 2:00 p.m. yesterday.
The husband, who rides a tricycle, thanked the doctors for the successful delivery and said it was his wife’s ninth kid.
He also added that hospital staff were paying extra attention to the newborns to make sure they were healthy.
The Kano State Government has also said that it will be fully responsible for the quintuplets’ health care.
The state Ministry of Health claimed that the intervention is part of efforts to improve healthcare for mothers and children and lower the number of deaths among mothers and infants.
