King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom have invited President Bola Tinubu to visit their country. He will leave Abuja tomorrow.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, said this in a statement today.
He said that the President would go with the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and other members of his cabinet to improve relations between Nigeria and the UK, especially in the areas of immigration, trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
Onanuga added that the British queen would visit the Nigerian president and his wife at Windsor Castle from March 18 to March 19 to see a special display of objects from the Royal Collection that have to do with Nigeria.
This is the first time in 37 years that a Nigerian leader has been to the United States. The British monarch has also never hosted a Nigerian leader at Windsor Castle before President Tinubu.
“Later, the King and the President will meet with groups that work on interfaith cooperation, both in the US and around the world.
The statement said, “President Tinubu will see the signing of the historic £746 million financing deal between the UK Export Finance (UKEF) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Federal Ministry of Finance to help fix up two of Nigeria’s most important national maritime infrastructure: the Lagos Port Complex (Apapa Quays) and the Tin Can Island Port Complex.”
The royal family is also likely to throw a state dinner for the Nigerian delegation.
During the visit, Tinubu will meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in 10 Downing Street. After that, senior officials from both nations are anticipated to work together more.
President Tinubu will also meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street for a bilateral discussion. This will lead to more cooperation between high-ranking officials from both nations.
The statement went on to say, “The meeting will end with the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding and agreements, including those on trade, investment, defense, and cultural cooperation.”
At the end of the summit, multiple Memoranda of Understanding and agreements are likely to be signed. These will encompass trade, investment, defense, and cultural cooperation.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu will all be with the president.
Wale Edun is the Minister of Finance and the Economy, Jumoke Oduwole is the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Hannatu Musawa is the Minister of Culture and the Creative Economy, Bosun Tijani is the Minister of Communications and the Digital Economy, Christopher Musa is the Chief of Defence Staff, Nuhu Ribadu is the National Security Adviser, and Mohammed Mohammed is the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency.
