Entrepreneur Tarcy Ohiri has recanted her charges of sexual harassment and unpaid contract claims against Minister of Works Dave Umahi.
In a video statement posted yesterday, Ohiri claimed she withdrew the claims after consulting with her family, friends, and legal team and reviewing events from the preceding two weeks.
She said that Engineer Dave Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, did not advise me that what happened to the Neyland engineers will happen to me if I visit.
Ohiri only learned about the Neyland engineers via online stories and others.
She apologised to Umahi for the claims, Vanguard writes.
I apologize to Engineer Dave Umahi and his family for the embarrassment my claim may have caused.
“I sincerely apologize to his family, my family, friends, and everyone who was caught and embarrassed.”
Ohiri added that she never said the minister met her in a hotel room with a towel around his waist.
“I apologize if the allegations have been magnified and taken out of context,” she said.
On an alleged unpaid contract, the entrepreneur said she and the minister never signed a contract.
She said the task was done and sent to his advisers, but they may have utilized the material for political reasons without telling him.
Our family has opted to move on from this subject, and we want the public to respect that.”
After Ohiri’s charges went viral online and Umahi called them mischievous and politically motivated, the retraction came days later.
