There are comments to the suspension of Sheikh Alkali Abubakar Salihu Zaria, a cleric, by the leadership of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Jos section.
Daily Trust said that Sheikh Alkali was suspended after he gave a sermon at Mokas Mosque in Damaturu, Yobe State, where he criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to reports, he was suspended after a meeting between the National Chairman of the JIBWIS Council of Ulama, Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, and the cleric as well as state and local members of the group in Yobe.
People said he used harsh language against some people in the area and the president, and that he dealt with insecurity in a way that didn’t follow the organization’s usual way of doing things.
During one of his sessions, Alkali criticized corrupt government officials, north west governors, and President Tinubu for the ongoing violence in the region, especially the actions of kidnappers and bandits. He said that the governors of the states and powerful politicians from the region have not shown the political will to stop the killings.
Alkali stated, “He said that people are taken and sold like cattle these days.” Someone will be brought to the bush against their will. After that, they talk about the ransom. Families beg, even though the kidnappers don’t know anything. They will hit and kick their victims. In Ramadan, they often stomp on their victim’s stomach.
Alkali also said that one of the biggest problems society may face is the inclination to respect people out of fear of their actions.
He remarked, “One of the signs of disasters this generation will probably face is the tendency to worship people out of fear of what they might do.” See how much more afraid of Tinubu the governors of the states are than they are of Allah. People treat you like a saint if you are in the APC. If you are part of the opposition, people will treat you like a devil. One will face false accusations. Who is this Tinubu? You tricked us. “You are a liar and a cheater.”
Alkali, on the other hand, wrote on his Facebook site that he accepted the judgment in good faith.
Alkali told his followers that Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir is not just a religious leader, but also a father figure to him.
He stated, “To my following, family, and friends, I implore you to be strong. This was meant to happen. I can’t go beyond the days Allah has set for me to lead the Ramadan Qur’anic exegesis in Damaturu. I ask that you be faithful and disciplined. “Allah has decided what is best for us.”
After that, young people went on social media to criticize the suspension, calling it unfair.
Yusuf Katagun, a Facebook user, remarked that the Izala movement had shown to be one of the main concerns in the north.
He said, “Izala is one of the biggest problems we have in the north.” These are the same folks who, in their loud voices and numbers, pushed for a Muslim-Muslim ticket and caused this disastrous government.
Katagun said that the leaders of the group are not speaking up when people need them to the most.
Ahmad Usman El-nafaty, on the other hand, alleged that the cleric’s actions were staged and that he performed them to win over his supporters.
Alkali didn’t say anything impressive. It is like a play. He wants to make certain individuals unhappy. He is just making Tafseer sessions funny.
But another user, Ibraheem Ahmad, argued that Alkali’s suspension was completely inappropriate and not in line with Islamic teachings.
He remarked, “Clerics are the last hope for regular Nigerians.” A lot of clerics called out Tinubu, but they didn’t be suspended because they didn’t support a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“What Alkali stated was the harsh truth. Islamic leaders should be afraid of Allah. You are the voice of the people whose blood is being shed.
A prominent Facebook page called Datti Assalfiy says that criticizing political leaders shouldn’t be enough to get the priest fired.
He said, “Politicians don’t believe in God.” This is why the priest isn’t talking much these days.
