Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and head of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says that the 2027 election will be a direct struggle between Bola Tinubu and the APC on one side and the Nigerian people on the other.
This evening, Atiku’s spokesman Paul Ibe sent out a statement that was made available to The Frontier.
Atiku said in response to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s decision to leave the party, “Political realignments are not new.” Politicians can select their own route. I respect that right.
He also said that his kids are free to have their own political views. But anyone, even his son, who chooses to stand with Nigerians instead of the APC is doing so out of patriotism.
Atiku said that the defections of opposition governors are not a proof of APC strength, but of pressure and fear.
He said that the Tinubu government was using state institutions as weapons to intimidate political opponents in a desperate attempt to make Nigeria a one-party state.
“This government is afraid of being held responsible. It is afraid of credible elections. He answered, “It fears the people.”
He says that no amount of force can change the daily problems Nigerians confront, like growing hunger, crushing poverty, worsening insecurity, and huge unemployment exacerbated by bad economic policies.
“Governors may leave for their own safety.” Millions of Nigerians are leaving because they want to stay alive.
Atiku told people not to mix up political cross-carpeting with popularity.
“What will the APC run on in 2027? Hunger? Hardship? Hopelessness?”
He told Nigerians that they are the ones who have the power and told them not to sell their votes.
“Don’t give up your future.” Don’t put your kids’ future on the line. People will have their voice in 2027, and their will shall win.
