A 30-year-old lady named Abigail Adebayo is said to have killed herself in the Ijebu area of Ogun State after her fiancé’s family didn’t want her marriage to him.
Family members reported that Abigail had been seeing Oniga Abiola since September 2025 and planned to get married.
But according to Vanguard, her future mother-in-law told her son to bring the woman he wanted to marry to their house about two weeks ago.
When Abiola’s mother found out that Abigail had three kids from a prior relationship, she apparently didn’t want the marriage to happen and subsequently told her oldest son, who also didn’t want it to happen.
People reported that Abigail was later found lying still in her room. She was taken quickly to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, where physicians confirmed that she had died when she got there.
Abiola, who was claimed to have told the Atan Ijebu division of the Ogun State Police Command about the event, said that Abigail had eaten insecticide.
Police sources say that investigators from the division who went to the scene and looked at the body at the hospital saw that there were no signs of violence on her body.
Police say that investigations are still going on.
