During a fight at a nightclub in Brooklyn, New York, Sheriff Shittu, a Nigerian who wanted to be a fashion designer, was shot and killed.
Police said that Shittu was shot and killed when a shooter opened fire at Quilox Restaurant and Lounge in East Flatbush on Church Avenue near 95th Street around 4:25 a.m. on Saturday.
He was 28 years old and went to the club with his younger brother, Fawaz Shittu, to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Their mother was coming from Nigeria to visit the next day.
Fawaz claimed, “I was screaming his name,” about the crazy things that happened following the shooting. I was trying to get him to wake up.
He says the incident started when a drunk customer at the club allegedly grabbed many ladies, including the sheriff’s girlfriend. The sheriff is said to have challenged the individual, which led to a fight.
The brothers left the club approximately 45 minutes after they got there because they were upset. But they came back soon after they realized the sheriff had left his phone behind.
Fawaz claimed, “The man was being led out when we came back in.” The owner said, “Don’t worry about that person; he’s crazy.” After a few seconds, I heard “pow,” and when I looked down, I saw my brother.
A bartender quickly tried to do CPR on the Sheriff, who was lying still on the floor. The alleged gunman then ran away and is still at large.
Fawaz said, “He was able to get away.” “I don’t know how that happened or how he got the gun into the club. The security staff didn’t do their jobs. They didn’t look. You should check persons and their bags.
Police said that emergency personnel quickly took Sheriff to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. At first, the family kept him on life support in case a miracle happened.
Another brother, Salem Shittu, 24, added, “He has been pronounced dead, but we’re still hoping.” “We’re holding on to our faith in God.”
Salem reported that Sheriff was “very sweet” and “very outgoing.” He was kind and protective. He took care of his family, friends, and loved ones.
It was a sad turn of events that Sheriff died the day before his 60-year-old mother, Foluke Shittu, came to the US to see her boys at their home in Far Rockaway, Queens. After she got off the plane, she found out that her kid had died.
Foluke stated through tears, “My son was a very nice person.” “I love him.” I got there on Sunday after we talked on Friday. That’s when they told me.
Sheriff moved to the US from Nigeria in 2018. While creating his fashion business, Riff Ent, he worked as a security guard. He wanted it to grow into a full-scale label.
Salem stated, “We’re going to keep pushing his brand.” “We’re just trying to help each other out.”
Now the family that is grieving wants justice.
Salem added of the suspect, “We want him to get life in prison, the longest sentence possible.” “If New York has the death penalty, use it.”
