Eniola Badmus, a Nollywood actress, has remarked that the actual problem is not being obese, but rejecting or doubting yourself because of your size.
This is what she posted on Instagram while thinking about her journey to lose weight.
Eniola Badmus says that people should want to lose weight because they love themselves, not because they feel ashamed or pressured by society.
She said that what she learned from her experience is that real change starts in the head.
She wrote, “I need you to hear this from me…being “big” isn’t the problem.” It’s hating yourself. It’s okay to doubt yourself. It is believing that you aren’t enough. That’s the actual fight.
“Your size has never made you less valuable.” No matter how big or small you are, you may be confident, successful, loved, admired, and unstoppable. And if you want to reduce weight, do it out of love, not shame. Do it because you want to be healthier, stronger, and happier, not because the world instructed you to lose weight.
“My journey to lose weight has taught me one very important thing: change starts in the mind.” I didn’t wake up one day and feel different.I made little, steady choices. And you know what? You can do it too. You can do it for sure if I can.
“But listen carefully… you have to appreciate the body you’re in right now, even before the weight changes. Be respectful. Say thank you. Have a party for it. This body has been through a lot with you. Don’t say anything bad about it.
“Be gentle with yourself if you’re on a trip. If you’re not, nonetheless walk with confidence. Confidence isn’t a size; it’s a way of thinking. And to everyone who has helped and cheered me on along the way… I can see you. Thank you for everything you do. Your love is the most important thing to me. Thanks for helping me progress.
“Let’s keep getting better, not because we hate who we are, but because we love who we are enough to change,” she remarked.
