Dozens of people are thought to be killed when alleged Lakurawa terrorists attacked various rural settlements in the Arewa Local Government Area.
Local and security sources say that the gunmen attacked communities in a rural border sector yesterday, firing fire on civilians in what witnesses said were very organized and random attacks.
According to Channels TV, 16 people died in Mamunu, five in Awashaka, three in Masama, and two people died in five other impacted villages.
The attacks caused fear, and many people had to leave their homes since the attackers broke in and shot at civilians.
Security personnel have subsequently been sent to the region to protect the communities, help survivors, and stop the attackers from getting away. There are also ongoing tracking efforts.
Bashir Usman, the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence and indicated that more information would be given as the inquiry goes on.
