Nottingham Forest, an English football team, has fired manager Sean Dyche. This is the third time this season that a manager has left the club.
Mr. Dyche was fired after his team, Wolverhampton Wanderers, played to a scoreless tie on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest has fired three coaches this season, including Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.
His departure comes at a time when the team has only won three of their past 13 games in all competitions and is currently in 17th position in the league, three points above the relegation zone.
On Thursday morning, Nottingham Forest said that Mr. Dyche was leaving.
The club announced in a short statement, “We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their work while they were with the club and wish them the best of luck in the future.”
Mr. Dyche indicated after the Wolves game that it was up to the owner, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, to change managers.
Forest hired the 54-year-old in October to take over for Mr. Postecoglou, who was in charge of eight games but didn’t win any of them. After Mr. Espirito Santo was fired on September 8, less than a month into the season, Mr. Postecoglou was hired. The latter had led Nottingham Forest to a seventh-place finish in the 2024-25 season, which got them into European football.
Mr. Dyche’s team finished 12th in the league phase of the Europa League, but like Thomas Frank, who was fired by Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, Mr. Dyche’s domestic run was bad. He only won six of his 18 Premier League games in charge, and his team lost to Championship club Wrexham on penalties in the FA Cup third round.
Reports say that Vitor Pereira, who used to coach Wolves, is the most likely person to take over for Mr. Dyche and become Nottingham Forest’s fourth manager of the season.
Mr. Pereira hasn’t coached professional football since Wolves fired him in November 2025 for not winning any of their first 10 Premier League games of the season.
A lot of people said that the Portuguese coach saved Wolves from being relegated because their results were a lot better when he was hired in December 2024. He has also worked with Mr. Marinakis in the past. He coached Olympiacos (also owned by the Greek billionaire businessman) in the 2014–15 season, and they won the Greek league and the domestic cup double.
