In another good move, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has fired forty-three (43) employees for behavior that was close to desertion, scandalous behavior, and patrol misbehavior.
Thirty-one (31) of these officers were fired for desertion, five (5) for scandalous behavior, and seven (7) for misconduct while on patrol.
This gesture, like others before it, sends a clear message since the FRSC badge stands for honor and duty.
Anyone who works for this great organization and chooses to break the rules will face the full force of the Corps’ disciplinary system.
Shehu Mohammed, mni, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, said that the decision was a strong reaffirmation of the Corps’ zero-tolerance policy against unethical behavior and indiscipline.
He said that the Corps is still a professional, paramilitary group that follows tight rules for how it works. It will not allow any behavior that could damage public trust, the integrity of the organization, or the Corps’ goals.
The Corps Marshal said that desertion is a serious violation of the service oath and operational duty, especially in an organization that is responsible for preserving the lives of millions of road users every day.
He also said that scandalous behavior and patrol misbehavior immediately damage public trust and go against the Corps’s essential ideals of discipline, openness, and service quality.
To this purpose, the Corps wants to reassure Nigerians that it would keep doing more internal monitoring, make supervisory frameworks stronger, and encourage all Commands around the country to be more ethical.
The Management is still determined to create a professional workforce that is based on honesty, discipline, and operational excellence.
The Corps then asked drivers to keep trusting the FRSC and to keep supporting its mission to make roads safer for everyone.
