Ademola Lookman, a forward for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has moved from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid after the two clubs came to an agreement.
The 28-year-old is right-footed, adaptable, and full of energy. He has signed a contract with the former Spanish champions that lasts until June 30, 2030.
According to rumors, Lookman will cost Atletico about 40 million euros ($47.5 million). He scored three goals in the Italian team’s 2024 Europa League win over Bayer Leverkusen.
This season, the winger has scored three goals in 19 games for Atalanta in all competitions.
Lookman was born in London and started his career at Charlton Athletic before moving to Everton.
He spent time on loan at RB Leipzig before signing with the German team for good in 2019. He then went back on loan to Fulham and Leicester City in the Premier League before joining to Atalanta in 2022.
Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico, has been pressing the club for more players after Giacomo Raspadori departed for Atalanta and Conor Gallagher signed with Tottenham earlier this winter transfer window.
Julian Alvarez, a striker for Rojiblancos, hasn’t scored in his last 11 La Liga games.
