Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has approved the hiring of two Assistant Corps Marshals (ACM) as Deputy Corps Marshals (DCM) for the South East and North East geographical zones of the country.
The hiring of the officers is part of a strong move to improve road safety management, expand leadership depth, and make operations more effective, according to a statement.
Adding that the new Deputy Corps Marshals are DCM Hyginus Omeje, who is in command of the Operations Department, and DCM Mark Sabiya, who is in charge of the Department of Finance and Accounts, both at the national headquarters.
The SGF said that the decision was based on the need to put experienced, disciplined, and performance-focused officers in key leadership positions in order to improve service delivery to Nigerians and make national road safety management stronger.
The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps said that the appointments were a well-thought-out and timely move that strengthens the Corps’ leadership structure at a crucial period in the country’s road safety journey.
He stressed that the two experienced officers have set themselves apart through decades of excellent service, operational excellence, and dedication to the Corps’ values. Their appointment will greatly improve command effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, and the implementation of targeted safety measures.
The Corps Marshal also told the incoming Deputy Corps Marshals to use their years of experience to help with traffic and road safety problems.
