In relation to the death of well-known singer Adesina Afeez, popularly known as Destiny Boy, the Ogun State Police Command has detained one suspect.
According to The PUNCH, the command stated that the case has been moved to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal probe Department for a thorough probe.
The Ogun State Police Command has already begun looking into the death of 22-year-old Adesina Afeez, also known as Destiny Boy, according to a statement released today by Command Police Public Relations Officer Babaseyi Oluseyi.
“The matter has been forwarded to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation. While investigations continue, one suspect is presently being held.
After upsetting videos of Destiny Boy’s body being transported to a morgue went viral on social media, causing sadness and conjecture on his cause of death, news of his passing leaked yesterday.
One of the videos showed the artist lying in the back of a car with cotton wool stuck in his ears and nostrils.
Later, in a different video, an unnamed associate attempted to explain the circumstances of his death, stating that the singer had been dealing with a private health issue.
“God, I want to finish this video before rumors about Destiny Boy’s cause of death start to circulate. Each of us entered this life with the intention of writing our own history. May his soul rest in peace. Prior to his passing, Destiny was battling a medical condition. The man remarked, “We tried for him, but he didn’t make it.”
Destiny Boy, whose real name is Afeez Adeshina, entered the music industry at an early age and gained recognition for his Fuji-influenced sound. He started his career as a backup dancer for Fuji artist Pasuma at T2 Boys Studios in Agege.
After releasing a Fuji cover of Davido’s popular song “If,” which received a lot of attention on social media, he became well-known in 2019. Additionally, he published covers of songs by Small Doctor, Tekno, 2Baba, and 9ice.
Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, Mio Gbonkankan, and Lowkey are among the songs the singer has released.
In November 2024, Destiny Boy and his partner, Iremide, welcomed their first kid.
The police stated that as investigations go, more information would be released.
