On Friday, tragedy rocked Kano’s Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters after seven family members were killed in what authorities suspect was a break-in.
According to Channels TV, the victims were named as Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her six children.
According to reports, they were all fatally injured when unidentified attackers came into their home at around 12:10 p.m. and utilized lethal weapons.
Shortly after the incident, the Kano State Police Command reportedly received a distress call and sent officers to the spot right away.
According to a statement released by the command, Ibrahim Bakori, the Commissioner of Police, quickly assembled a police team headed to the crime scene by Lawal Mani, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, after receiving the complaint.
The casualties were taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano after being evacuated, according to the police.
According to the statement, “the bodies were taken to the hospital right away for medical attention, but regrettably, doctors declared them dead.”
Bakori has instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the killings thoroughly and to determine the attack’s circumstances.
On behalf of the command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, the Kano Police Public Relations Officer, offered condolences.
“We offer our deepest sympathies to the deceased’s immediate family, the residents of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, and the entire Kano State for this heartbreaking and agonizing loss,” Kiyawa stated.
He encouraged the public to contribute any helpful information that could support the current investigation and reassured locals that the police will stop at nothing to bring the offenders to justice.
