The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it knows about the US strikes against terrorists in Sokoto, but it won’t tell the public about them.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the NPF’s spokesman, said this on Channels Television last night.
“We do a lot of gathering intelligence, not simply sharing it. We, the Police Force, know some things concerning the strikes, but we don’t want to talk about them. Hundeyin said, “We don’t want to talk about that operation.”
The police spokesperson said, “There was cooperation, but we would rather leave it as a defense matter that the defense would talk about.”
The US attacked terrorists in Sokoto on December 25, 2025. The Department of Defense reported that “multiple ISIS terrorists” were killed in the strikes that the Nigerian government asked for.
President Donald Trump revealed the strikes on his Truth Social platform, where he said, “The Department of War carried out many perfect strikes, which only the United States can do.” Our country will not let Radical Islamic Terrorism grow under my leadership.
“May God bless our military, and Merry Christmas to everyone, even the dead terrorists. There will be many more of them if they keep killing Christians.”
President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria indicated that the operation was a cooperative security effort.
“Now that the US is working with us, we would do it together, and we would make sure, just like the President said yesterday before he gave the go-ahead, that it is clear that it is a joint operation and not just in the name of one religion or the other,” said Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar on Boxing Day.
The minister stated, “We are a multi-religious country, and we are working with partners like the US to fight terrorism and protect the lives and property of Nigerians.”
The attacks happened after Trump made comments and threats about the massacre of Christians in Nigeria, which made him call the West African country a “Country of Particular Concern.”
The Republican president warned that Christians in Nigeria were facing a “existential threat” that was like “genocide.” But the federal authorities turned down the claims.
