More than 50 people who took part in the protest in Ekpoma, Esan West local government area last Saturday have been taken into custody.
The Nation said that the suspects were caught in different parts of Ekpoma.
During the protest, a lot of stores were broken into and the Palace of the Onojie of Ekpoma was damaged.
They were taken to Edo State in a black maria, where they are now waiting to be arraigned.
Family members of the victims were seen hanging around the courthouse.
As of the time of writing, security had blocked off the court room and would not let reporters in.
Eno Ikoedem, a spokesman for the Edo Police, stated that the people who were arrested were involved in looting and violence.
