Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, brought himself in to the police on charges of repeated rape and other public order offenses, the Lagos State Police Command stated.
The PUNCH claims that Zone 2 Assistant Inspector-General of Police Sylvester Alabi has taken over the case.
Okafor ignored a police invitation on Monday after being invited by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, over the charges on Sunday.
CP Olohundare Jimoh, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, told TVC today, “When he was invited, he got to us through his lawyer that he would be appearing on Monday. So we waited for him Monday. We didn’t see him, so I ordered his arrest.
He arrived yesterday. Yes, he arrived yesterday.”
Jimoh said the case was investigated in Zone 2.
“We later learned that the same matter had been opened at Zone 2 headquarters with the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge, which I verified.
He told me his command had been investigating the subject for three weeks.
Since he’s involved, the AIG is my immediate supervisor and a commander. We returned the matter to the Zone, he said.
The CP told suspected victims, “Social media has become a veritable space for people to lodge their complaints. We no longer wait for people to see the situation before acting in the public interest because the conduct can topple law and order.”
Multiple Okafor claims came online in mid-December 2025, sparking the issue.
Doris Ogala, a Nollywood actress, accused the pastor of a long-term sexual relationship dating back to 2017, alleging he broke marital pledges, communicated graphic content, and caused her divorce.
On December 28, 2025, Okafor reportedly apologized for prior “mistakes” and kneeled at the pulpit to seek forgiveness amid the public backlash.
While investigations continue, the pastor has resigned from his pastoral duties and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is exploring disciplinary action against him.
The Lagos State Police Command assured everyone that the claimed victims are safe and that SCID, Panti, and Zone 2 investigations are ongoing.
