Olugbemisola Odusote has been named the new Director-General (DG) of the Nigerian Law School (NLS) by President Bola Tinubu.
This was revealed in a statement yesterday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy.
He stated that the appointment is for a four-year term that begins on January 10, 2026.
According to the release, Odusote will oversee the institution’s overall academic leadership, administrative oversight, and strategic direction on all campuses in his capacity as Director-General.
Additionally, she will act as the main point of contact for the Nigerian Bar Association, the Body of Benchers, the Council of Legal Education, and the school.
The statement said that Odusote, 57, will take over for current DG Isa Chiroma, whose term ends on January 9, 2026, following eight years of service.
The appointment now serves as the head of the Nigerian Law School’s Lagos campus and deputy director-general. Since the institution’s founding in 1962, she will be the first female leader.
Odusote graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) with a bachelor’s degree in law and was admitted to the bar in 1988.
She has a doctorate in law from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom (UK), with an emphasis on public law and justice administration, and a master’s degree in company and commercial law from the same university.
Odusote began his career at the Nigerian Law School in 2001 as a lecturer and has since advanced through the ranks to become head of the academic department, head of the campus, and director of academics.
