The All Progressives Congress (APC) has no right to criticize the activities of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which maintains that the ruling party must handle the political fallout from its own actions in Rivers State.
According to Vanguard, the PDP declared Wike no longer belongs to the party and charged the APC with intentionally enlisting him for political gain before objecting now that the relationship has soured.
In response to a public discussion between Wike and APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru regarding political events in Rivers State, PDP National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong expressed the party’s stance today in Abuja.
“The National Secretary of the APC may genuinely not know who is or is not a member of the PDP, consequently relying on outdated information suggesting that Wike was a PDP member,” the PDP spokesperson stated. We understand the dilemma the APC has created for itself by enlisting Wike, whom they no longer have the moral or legal authority to reject, since Wike and his supporters were ejected from the PDP.
“You cannot complain of a voluntary damage or profit from a wrong you caused, according to the law. You can’t be upset about something you voluntarily did. Therefore, they ought to control the predicament they have caused. After all, they have to deal with the fact that what was once considered an advantage has now turned into a problem.
He dismissed efforts to involve the PDP in the dispute, pointing out that the behavior under scrutiny was formerly praised when it seemed to benefit the APC.
Regarding his remarks, Basiru need not to include the PDP in this. He is now complaining about the same behavior. They were celebrating and giggling when he was acting in a way that favored the APC. There was not a single complaint from this National Secretary.
“I have carefully examined Basiru’s purported activism credentials. Issues need to be viewed from a perspective that transcends partisanship. When anything is incorrect, it is incorrect. As a citizen and the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, I will confront anyone who supports another party or participates in anti-party behavior. To put it plainly, this does not appear to be good. The party stated, “Leave that party and join us, or stay independent and openly support us.”
Ememobong insisted that the APC was the only party to benefit politically from Wike’s conduct, and as a result, they had to deal with the consequences.
“The APC needs to manage him because they caused the injury they are feeling on their own volition. The APC ultimately benefited from this annoyance, and now they have to deal with the consequences.
This is the result of continuing to feed a monster. One day, you end up in that monster’s stomach as food. Some people continue to feed the monster because they assume it will always get away and they will always have enough food to feed it. They question, “What would this person taste like?” oblivious to the possibility that the monster will get weary of the food being fed to it. Then they wind up in the monster’s stomach,” he continued.
