The Mambas would receive an exceptional N11.3 million bonus for each player if they beat Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 in Morocco, according to Mozambique President Daniel Francisco Chapo.
The Head of State congratulated the Mozambique players and coaching staff on qualifying for the Round of 16 in a message sent yesterday.
He called the accomplishment extraordinary and meritorious, filling the nation with pride. He also praised the players and coaches for their courage, discipline, and determination, which helped the squad achieve a continental milestone.
According to Jornal Notícias, President Chapo offered a 500,000 meticais (approximately N11.3 million in Nigerian currency) bonus to each player and coach if they defeated the Super Eagles and advanced to the AFCON quarter-finals.
Mozambique finished third in Group F after losing 2-1 to Cameroon in their final match and advanced for the knockout phase to face one of the tournament’s best teams.
Nigeria will play Mozambique at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Monday, January 5, at 8 pm.
