The Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS) has given landowners more time to get their recertification and allocation letters at Shehu Abubakar District, which used to be called BAP 4 Layout.
Kabiru Usman Hassan, the Director General of GOGIS, told reporters at a press conference that the Gombe State Government legally took away all Rights of Occupancy over lands that used to be part of the BAP 4 Layout because the conditions of the grant were not met and it was in the public’s best interest. This was done in strict accordance with Section 28 of the Land Use Act.
He noted that after the revocation, the government, through GOGIS, started a full land reform and regularization program in line with its legal duties and the appropriate State Land Administration Policies. Daily Independent publishes this.
This initiative entailed redesigning the plan, checking interests, making sure all eligible allottees had the right paperwork, and recertifying them. As a result of this exercise, the territory was officially renamed Shehu Abubakar District.
Kabiru went on to say that GOGIS held an open and properly announced documentation and verification exercise for all concerned allottees, as required by law and administrative due process.
The exercise started on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the GOGIS Customer Service Center. It took place on working days from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the first closing date set for Monday, September 30, 2024.
“After the documentation phase was successfully completed and to fulfill the Government’s duty to ensure orderly Land Administration under Sections 1 and 5 of the Land Use Act, the Agency began sending out new allocation letters, giving priority to people whose titles were taken away by Order 007.
“The exercise started on Monday, November 24, 2025, and ended on Monday, December 16, 2025, which was the last day to receive allocation letters and finish the recertification process.
“Even though the deadline had passed, and in clear demonstration of good faith, fairness, and inclusion, the Agency’s Management, with the approval of His Excellency (Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya), carefully considered several representations and appeals from affected allottees who had already been properly documented but were unable to finish the process on time.
Kabiru said, “Management has approved a FINAL extension of the deadline. As a result, the deadline for recertifying plots and collecting allocation letters is now Friday, January 16, 2026, starting Monday, January 5, 2026.”
He went on to say that the extension is only for eligible allottees who had already taken part in the documentation and verification process.
In this case, everyone involved must go to the Agency within the extended time frame and bring a Documentation Slip, Original Title Documents, one recent passport-size photo, and a valid form of identification, such as a National Identity Card, an International Passport, or a Driver’s License.
And if they lose their documents, they need to bring a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Police Extract, a Sworn Affidavit, and a Newspaper Publication. They are also warned that if they don’t collect their allocation letters and/or finish the recertification process by the new and final deadline, they will be seen as voluntarily giving up the offer.
He said that these plots will go back to the Gombe State Government and be given to someone else according to the laws, policies, and rules that are already in place, without any more notice.
It told the public to acquire information or ask questions about payments, penalties, and allocations directly from the agency.
He said again that Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration is committed to being open, accountable, following the Land Use Act, and protecting people’s rights.
He said, “While making sure that land administration in Gombe State is efficient and orderly, members of the public are strongly urged to take advantage of this chance and follow the rules.”
